Songs of Life

United We Fell and Rose Again

The eye of the looking glass sharpens the view.
Black and white, but nothing new.
A reflection of life for the chosen few.
Then it all fell down around me.

Like wingless birds they took to the air.
Through the eye of the glass I felt their despair.
If I had feelings, I was hardly aware,
As it all fell down around me.

I chose to believe that freedom was free.
To share in a life, to live and let be.
Then blood lust and hate were directed at me,
When it all fell down around me.

Living fast and dying faster,
I tried to find out, but I couldn't ask her.
The Lady of Luck was truly master,
As it all fell down around me.

I reached out with my hand, but it wasn't attached.
An arm and a leg, but none of them matched.
A memory lapse that would need to be patched.
When it all fell down around me.

Self doubt and anger, when I sit alone.
There is only blackness where light once shone.
My emptiness fills the foundations of stone.
Since it all fell down around me.

I look deep within for a glimmer of light.
There's a spark still glowing in the darkest night.
There's comfort in knowing your actions are right.
As my friends stand up around me.

Once again I reflect, then I stop to pray,
That I will not judge wrong, though someone should pay.
Now they live in fear and they will have their day,
And we all will stand around them.
